North Lamar senior Ayden McCullar has signed to continue his basketball career at Southwestern College, where he plans to major in business while competing on the court.
McCullar celebrated the milestone surrounded by family, friends and members of his church family as he prepares for the next chapter of his academic and athletic journey.
Reflecting on those who have influenced him most, McCullar credited his mother as the biggest impact on his life.
“My mama has been the biggest influence in my life thus far,” McCullar said. “Through every challenge, every setback, and every victory, she has been my constant source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. She taught me the meaning of perseverance, faith, and hard work. No words could ever fully express how much she means to me, but I hope she knows that everything I am becoming is rooted in the love and strength she gave me.”
One of McCullar’s favorite memories during his time at North Lamar High School was the Panthers’ basketball game against Paris High School.
He also shared advice for younger athletes hoping to follow a similar path.
“Believe in yourself and don’t worry about what other people have to say,” McCullar said.
North Lamar officials thanked everyone who supported McCullar throughout his journey and congratulated him on earning the opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level.
“Once a Panther, Always a Panther.”
