North Lamar High School students showcased their language skills and academic talents at the 2026 NET-OLE Foreign Language Symposium, earning an impressive 57 medals, rosettes, and ribbons while competing across seven different language levels.
A total of 28 North Lamar students participated in the competition, with North Lamar placing in 39 out of 47 events and earning the title of the 2026 Overall High Point Team.
Students competed in a wide variety of categories including drama, vocal performance, prepared speech, spelling, memorized prose and poetry, essay writing, verbal fluency, sight reading, and art competitions.
At the Beginner Level, Grainger Justice earned 3rd place in Sight Reading.
In the Intermediate Level, North Lamar students earned multiple team and individual honors including a 5th place Vocal performance by Timberly Ash and Kaycie Ellis and a 2nd place Drama Group performance by Vivian Foreman, Addy Neisler, Sophie Wofford, Rayleigh Allmon, Camila Chappell, Timberly Ash, and Kaycie Ellis. Individual awards were also earned by Parth Patel, Vivian Foreman, Addy Neisler, Bentley Babb, Elijah Ginn, Sophie Wofford, Cohen Ray, Rayleigh Allmon, Jude Barnard, and Camila Chappell.
In the Advanced Level competition, students earned a 2nd place Drama finish with team members Gabriel Wells, Elijah Ginn, Augustus Scholta, and Parth Patel. Additional honors were earned by Gavin Pike, Gabriel Wells, Addy Neisler, Jude Barnard, and Vivian Foreman.
At the Advantaged Level, Mercedes Adair earned 3rd place in Sight Reading and 1st place in Memorized Poetry.
North Lamar students also excelled in the Bilingual/Heritage Level competition. The Drama team consisting of Alexis Ruiz, Michelle Montes Alvarez, Abraham Gonzalez Bustillos, Giselle Barrientos Chavelas, Camila Castillo Rojas, Maria Silerio, Jovanni Silerio, Angel Resendez, and Estrella Ramirez earned 2nd place overall. Individual honors were earned by Estrella Ramirez, Angel Duenez, Michelle Montes-Alvarez, Abraham Gonzalez Bustillos, Giselle Barrientos Chavelas, Camila Castillo Rojas, Arturo Cepeda, Maria Silerio, Jovanni Silerio, and Angel Resendez.
A special recognition goes to Angel Resendez, who earned 1st place on the Scholarship Exam and received a $750 scholarship to East Texas A&M University.
