Sarah (Falls) Stewart, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Powderly, Texas, on Tuesday, March 17th.
Born in July 1941, she dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse. She began her nursing career at McCuistion Regional Medical Center, later serving at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Campbell Soup Company, and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She ultimately retired after many years of service as the school nurse at North Lamar High School, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to students.
Faith and service were important parts of her life. She was a member of Chicota Presbyterian Church and was also actively involved for many years at Powderly United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and participated in church activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers who passed away in childhood; her husband, Stanley Stewart; and her son-in-law, Larry Box.
She is survived by her children, Tracy Box, Forrest Stewart, and Scott Stewart; her grandchildren, Ryan Box and Chad Box; and her brother, Sam Falls and his wife Judy Falls.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Forest Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating.
She will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to family, and the many lives she touched through her work as a nurse.
