A Detroit man was arrested on Feb. 13, 2026, in Red River County after law enforcement received an alert from the Flock Safety automated license plate recognition system, indicating that a motorcycle reported stolen had entered the county.
According to reports, the stolen motorcycle was traveling westbound on U.S Highway 82 near Detroit.
At the time of the notification, three deputies were patrolling in close proximity to the reported location.
Deputies immediately coordinated efforts and positioned themselves along major roadways outside the Detroit city limits in an attempt to intercept the motorcycle before it could exit the area.
When the vehicle was not observed along primary travel routes, deputies determined it was likely still within the city limits.
Deputies initiated a systematic search of the city. Through proactive investigative efforts, deputies successfully located and recovered the stolen motorcycle within the City of Detroit.
The individual found in possession of the motorcycle was identified as Gary Wayne Buford, 62, of Detroit.
Buford was taken into custody without incident. During the course of the arrest, Buford was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, resulting in an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B >=1G<4G.
