On Feb, 10, An officer performed a traffic stop in the 2900 block of S. Church St. He made contact with the driver, Elvin Patton III (31). Patton refused to obey officer directions as to staying in the vehicle and attempted to walk away from the officer. The officer attempted to detain Patton, who began struggling and had to be physically restrained until handcuffing could be completed. Patton was arrested for Resisting Arrest or Detention. During an inventory of Patton’s vehicle, a THC vaping device, individually packaged marijuana packets, and a handgun with the serial number removed were located. Patton was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Resisting Arrest, Tampering with an Identification Number, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. He was booked without further incident.
On Feb. 10, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of W. Washington Upon arrival they made contact with a 30 year old victim who advised that she had been assaulted by a female who lived in the area. The victim did not know the identity of the offender. The offender had struck the victim in the head with a bottle, causing injury. Officers were unable to locate the offender but did collect video evidence of the incident. The investigation will continue.
On Feb. 10, report of a Burglary of Habitation was made in the 300 block of NW 13th. The victim reported that possibly known suspects entered his residence through an unlocked door and stole two gaming systems as well as two pairs of athletic shoes. A witness on the scene advised that they had witnessed two known subjects as well as another two subjects, unknown, in the area of the residence around the time of the theft. Follow up investigation to follow.
Officers made 32 traffic stops, 3 adult arrest, and answered 95 calls for service during this reporting period.
