North Lamar HS Choir has had many years of success with students receiving Texas Music Educators All State Choir status. This year is no exception. Hayden Prescott, senior, Rory Stewart, senior, Liam Gordan, senior and Aubrie Pence, junior, were welcomed into the All State Choir on Saturday, Jan 10 at the Area round of competition, held at Tyler Junior College.
The TMEA All State Choir process begins in May, as the audition repertoire list is published by TMEA. Students across the state of Texas start planning for summer camps and rehearsals, as they begin their journey to becoming an elite all state choir member. Along the journey, students audition at the Region and Pre Area level, working hard to be in the top group that has the privilege to audition for the All State Choir at the area level. What starts out with over 2,500 students across the state (1A-4A), finishes with the top 112 choir members.
North Lamar HS Choir has had a rich history of success with students in the all state choir. Within the last 20 years, under the direction of Rebecca Hildreth, NL Choir has made 30 appearances, with the last 10 years being consecutive.
The North Lamar HS choir students will perform on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at San Antonio’s Henry B. González Convention Center, during the 2026 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.
