James Threlkeld, 67, of Powderly, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at his home.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
James, the son of Jimmy Threlkeld and Geneva Vanhoosen Threlkeld, was born March 14, 1958, in Gridley, CA. He attended Mountain View Middle School and graduated from Arvin High School in Bakersfield, CA. He was a potato harvester in Bakersfield and then worked in the oil fields. The last nine years have been spent in the metal roofing business.
James enjoyed fishing, coin hunting, metal detecting, bottle hunting, coin collecting, and polishing and cleaning his coin collection. He loved taking care of his dog, Hoppy. He was a Harley Motorcycle enthusiast. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved spending time with them. James always enjoyed sleeping in the backseat of his pickup on the way home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Geneva, a son, Curtis James Threlkeld, and a brother, Lonnie Threlkeld.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Gregory (Kevin) and Rhonda Threlkeld (Daniel Beltran), grandchildren, Candice Threlkeld, Jacob Gregory, Jimmy Gregory, Brittney Gregory, Kevin Gregory Jr., Hanzo Beltran, Elina Beltran, Kelsey Threlkeld, Mercedes Threlkeld, Curtis Threlkeld Jr., Angelica Rivas, Ashley Rivas, Dalanie Threlkeld, Holly Threlkeld, and Jaylah Threlkeld, great grandchildren, Josie, Jett, Ava, Izleigh, and Liam along with a brother, Billy Joe Threlkeld.
