Pansy graduated from Vernon High School in 1950 where she was a High School standout both academically and socially. Pansy attended Texas Christian University and graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Pansy was selected to represent TCU as the TCU Sweetheart at the Cotton Bowl. Pansy met and married her college sweetheart, TCU Football player Sammy Morrow on June 4, 1954. They were married for 63 years when Sammy passed away.
Following her graduation from TCU she worked for a large energy company while Sammy served in The United States Air Force as a commissioned officer and B-36 pilot. These were cherished memories for Pansy as she enjoyed playing Bridge and socializing at the Base with the other wives while the husbands were flying. Following their time with the US Air Force, Pansy and Sammy enjoyed their lives as Teacher and Athletic Director in many wonderful towns like DeKalb, Weatherford, Mount Pleasant to name a few. Their friendships grew with each move and Pansy treasured her time hosting Dinner Parties, volunteering at their church and traveling. Eventually, Sammy and Pansy moved to Dallas where they opened Athletic Supply of Dallas Inc. and Pansy supported Sammy with the company’s Bookkeeping when her Tennis Game, Bridge Parties and Social Club Meetings with the Lake Highlands Women’s League would allow. Pansy loved traveling with Sammy, enjoyed their love of family and friends and was a loving wife. Pansy and Sammy were blessed with two children, Jack and Chris Ann, and they were heavily involved in their lives.
Pansy shared lifelong friendships with their children’s friend’s parents and Pansy volunteered tirelessly at Wallace Elementary and Lake Highlands Junior High in addition to taking them to practices, games, birthday parties and the like. Pansy and Sammy spent six years traveling between Dallas and Europe when Sammy worked for the NFL Europe. Pansy had a blast traveling with the other wives via train to as many European Cities as possible. Pansy and Sammy moved to Paris, Texas upon Sammy’s retirement where Jack and Chris Ann graduated. They lived both in town and on their ranch where Pansy enjoyed friendships from PEO, Garden Club, First United Methodist Church, Big Supper Club, Kings Daughters, Roundtable and various Bible Study Groups to name a few. Pansy was an active and involved member of the First United Methodist Church. Pansy’s greatest love was for her husband Sammy and her children and grandchildren. You could not have a conversation with Pansy without hearing a story about her grandchildren. She was the epitome of a “prim and proper lady” with a wonderful sense of humor, spunky personality, quick wit, loyal soul, heart of gold and a zest for life for 92 years. Pansy is survived by her son Jack David Morrow and daughter-in-law Bonnie Thomas Morrow, granddaughter Madison Kate Morrow, grandson Jack Thomas Morrow, her daughter Chris Ann Compton, and grandson William Eugene Compton II, and many loving nieces and nephews. Pansy was preceded in death by her husband Sammy Morrow, parents Lawrence and Sylvia Kidwell, Sister Carolyn Burch, brother-in-law Pete Burch, parents-in-law CC and Blanche Morrow, brother-in-law LV Morrow and sister-in-law Robbie Morrow, and son-in-law William Eugene Compton. Pansy was an avid football fan and loved cheering for TCU, the Cowboys and Rangers as well! She loved spending time with her PEO Sisters, her church friends, eating anything with chocolate, her pink lipstick, dressing to the nines every day, spending time with family and friends, laughing with the Terrific Tribe at Table 3 at Spring Lake and most importantly her relationship with The Lord.
