On Dec. 15, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 700 block of Graham St. Upon making contact with the driver officers smelled marijuana. The occupants (one driver and one passenger) were removed from the vehicle. The passenger, Robert Royce Black (34) of Paris, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was detained and placed in handcuffs. A search of the vehicle located prescription medications wrapped in foil in the passenger door pocket. The medication was not in a prescription bottle and Black had no prescription for the medication. Black was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug. The vehicle was impounded due to the driver’s lack of a valid license and insurance. The driver was released at the scene. Black was booked and placed in jail.
On Dec. 15, Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of NE Loop 286 in reference to a family disturbance and assault. The suspect, identified by the caller as Beau Louis Carroll (36) reportedly had choked a subject and then had threatened the caller with a machete. Upon arrival the officer observed Carrol leaving the scene in a vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at which time Carroll immediately began accelerating rapidly in an attempt to evade capture. Paris Police officers as well as Lamar County Deputies and Texas State Troopers pursued Carroll out to HWY 271 North and were finally able to stop the vehicle near the state line. Carroll was taken into custody at which time he was found to be in possession of narcotics. He was charged with Evading Arrest With a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance. It was later determined that Carroll had previously been warned away from the entire property where the initial incident occurred. He was also charged with Criminal Trespassing. Carroll was booked and placed in jail.
Officers made 13 traffic stops, 2 adult arrest, and answered 75 calls for service during this reporting period.
