On Nov. 10, Paris police were notified of an incident involving a vehicle colliding with a train in the 1200 block of W. Washington. A motor vehicle attempted to proceed past a train at a railroad crossing. The train had already entered the crossing as the vehicle swerved across in front of the train and struck the front of the train. The vehicle then left the scene without stopping even though the rear bumper cover had been ripped from the vehicle and was dragging behind it. The incident is under investigation and there were no known injuries.
On Nov. 11, The department was made aware of a fraud incident after a subject came to a victim’s residence in the 800 block of 41st SW in an attempt to sell solar panels. The victim was later contacted about a credit application with the company and asked for personal information, which he provided for the credit check. About a week later, an unknown person opened a checking account in the victim’s name and attempted a 10,000.00 plus withdrawal in the victim’s name. The victim stopped the transaction. The company then sent another person to the victim’s residence. Officers spoke with the second subject who appeared to be a possible suspect involved in an elaborate scam. The case is under investigation.
On Nov. 11, An officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 1100 block of N. Collegiate. Upon contacting the driver, Jeremiah Aaron Moody (21) of Paris, the officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A passenger, Gabbriella Rose Detoy (21) of Paris, was also contacted. Moody admitted to being in possession of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle located Marijuana, THC wax, and THC vape pens. The narcotics were located in a common area of the vehicle and both individuals were charged with narcotics violations. Moody was charged with Possession of controlled substance X 2 and Possession of Marijuana. Detroy was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both were booked and later transported to Lamar County Jail.
On Nov. 12, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 4500 block of SE Loop 286 for speeding. The driver, later identified as Ontarious Dejuan Milton (38) of Paris refused to pull over and continued driving at a low rate of speed to a residence on 40th SE. Milton was ordered from the vehicle but refused to comply with officers verbal commands. The officer then attempted to take Milton into custody by physical means but Milton refused to physically comply. Officers were forced to use escalated force, Taser and OC Spray to control Milton and take him into custody. Milton was found to be in possession of a large amount of cocaine, which was found in his pants. Milton was taken to the Paris Police Department and booked. He was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest or Detention in a motor vehicle, and Resisting Arrest or Detention. He was eventually transported to Lamar County Jail.
Officers made 24 traffic stops, 5 adult arrest, and answered 130 calls for service during this reporting period.
