On Oct. 9, an officer on patrol in the 2400 block of E Hickory stopped a vehicle for no registration sticker and stopped the vehicle in the 2100 block of E. Cherry St. The officer identified the driver as Christopher Martin Collins (43) as well as a passenger in the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle the officer smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The officer noted that Collins was nervous during the stop. The officer requested backup officers on scene and upon their arrival began to search the vehicle based upon the smell of marijuana. Collins immediately fled on foot. He was soon taken into custody and the search resumed. The officer found a large amount of marijuana in the vehicle as well as THC oil and the paraphernalia to smoke the items. Items commonly used to package marijuana for resale were also located. Cocaine and Methamphetamine were also located in the vehicle as well as illegal pills suspected of being the narcotic “Ecstasy”. Collins was booked and charged with:
· Manufacture or Delivery Cocaine
· Manufacture or Delivery Methamphetamine
· Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces
· Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction
Other charges that are pending laboratory testing of narcotics include:
· Manufacture or Delivery of Controlled Substance (Ecstacy)
· Possession of Controlled Substance (THC)
The passenger in the vehicle was released and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Officers made two other arrest on Misdemeanor Warrants.
Officers made 21 traffic stops, 3 adult arrest, and answered 89 calls for service during this reporting period.
