On July 23 at 00:16hrs Officers made contact with Jeffery Allen Johnston (40) in the 100 block of NW 13th for riding a bicycle without a front headlight. A consensual search of Johnston revealed a packet containing four prescription tablets which Johnston had no prescription for. He claimed he had found the pills in a dumpster and did not know what they were. Johnston had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Texas Pardons and Paroles for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle and Robbery. As the search of Johnston continued a backpack containing methamphetamine and paraphernalia for smoking the narcotics was also located. Johnston was charged with his warrants, Possession of a Dangerous Drug (Prescription) and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was booked without incident.
On July 22, the department was notified of a Burglary of a Building which took place in the 3500 block of NE Loop 286. An HVAC company was working on a business at the location and had a shipping container which was used for materials storage burglarized. Suspects had defeated the locking mechanism and had stolen approximately $3500.00 worth of copper fittings and pipe that was to be used on the construction. A representative of the business had observed an individual digging through the dumpster at the location and it appeared that the suspect was trying to salvage copper wire from the dumpster. A description of the suspect was obtained and the case is under investigation.
Officers made 20 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 91 calls for service during this reporting period.
