On May 9, 2023, at approximately 1400, stopped a vehicle for traffic in the 700 block of SE 19th. After the detaining officer smelled marijuana, the driver, Tiffany McCann and the Passenger, Dewey Kelley, were questioned and produced marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed more marijuana as well as other narcotics. Two firearms were found in the vehicle, a prohibited short barreled shotgun, and a handgun, which had been reported stolen in Texarkana. Kelley was charged with Possession of a weapon by a felon, Possession of a Prohibited weapon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. McCann was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.
A vehicle stop at 1245 on the same day brought officers into contact with Karen Sue Pool. Pool was riding in a vehicle with a family member whom she was prohibited from being within 200 yards of. She was arrested for Violation of Protective Order. Once at the station, Pool called the family member on the phone, also prohibited in the order, this constituted a second incident of violation of the same Protective Order. Pool had been previously convicted of Violation of Protective Order on two occasions. She was charged with habitual violation of Protective Order.
A Burglary was reported at 430 W. Parr Ave. at 1630. Unknown subjects entered the residence and stole, jewelry, cologne, change, and assorted other belongings of the victim. Investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to a burglary in the 1000 block of Hearon St. at about 1900. Complaint showed officers that an unknown subject had entered the residence through an open door. Victim had been in the hospital and could not give an exact date but advised that it could have been anytime between 4/29/2023 and the date of the report. A jewelry box and some jewelry were missing. Other items had been taken from the back yard including fencing materials and other building supplies. Investigation is pending.
