Paris’ 12th Annual Evening Christmas Parade will light up downtown on Dec. 4 as floats and vehicle entries will be decked out with a minimum of 1,000 lights at 6 p.m.
“The Paris Downtown Association is excited to announce that this year will be our 12th Annual Evening Christmas Parade with thousands of lights to show off beautifully decorated floats,” said Kari Daniel, Paris Downtown Association president.
In 2020 and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Paris’ annual Christmas parade was a ‘drive-by’ parade.
“Though there is still a pandemic looming, we have decided this year to go back to our previous parade route,” Daniel said. “The floats will be moving and spectators get to sit and watch.”
To ensure everyone’s safety, Daniel said there are specific lighting rules for the parade.
“… there will be a 1,000-light minimum on each float and vehicle,” Daniel said. “Groups of walkers and any other type of un-motorized entries will also be required to be well lit for this exciting event.”
For more information, contact Daniel at 903-517-9052, and to register for the parade, click here. Entry fee to register for the parade is $30.
“We hope you will plan to join us again this year and help us spread Christmas Cheer this Holiday Season as the world slowly returns to ‘normal,’” Daniel said. “We look forward to bringing some much-needed Christmas Cheer to our community!”
The parade’s route will wrap through downtown, as parades’ past; line-up will start at Lamar County Courthouse, exit the courthouse’s parking lot and head South on N.W. 1st Street, then turn West onto Bonham Street, then back South onto S.W. 3rd Street and East onto Grand Ave. and Clarksville Street.
The parade will continue on Clarksville Street, and turn North on S.E. 12th Street, then back West toward the courthouse on Lamar Ave. The final turn for the parade will be on North Main Street, turning back into Lamar County Courthouse’s parking lot.
