Powderly Volunteer Fire Department is set to host its Hamburger Supper and Silent Auction fundraiser on Saturday, July 24.
“This is the first fundraiser since pre-Covid,” said Randi Johnson with Powderly VFD. “Being non-profit, we rely on donations and fundraisers in order to keep our department running throughout the year.”
Johnson said during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the department had to “budget and utilize wisely” current funds to ensure it could operate as normal, “since we experienced an increase in call volume during the heighten times.
“Community support is critical for us to keep doing what we love to do – serving the Powderly and Lamar County communities,” Johnson said. “All proceeds received will go back into the department.”
From 11 .m.-3 p.m., at Powderly VFD’s Fire Station, 100 CR 44112, the hamburger supper fundraiser will help the department raise needed funds through “donation only.”
On the menu:
- Hamburgers;
- Chips;
- Drink; and
- Dessert.
A silent auction will take place during the event, and those participating in the auction need not be present at the close – contact information will be collected at the time of bidding.
Johnson also said Liberty Syndicate – a motorcycle riding club – will host its inaugural Fun Run on the same day, and has selected Powderly VFD as its first stop on the route.
“We are very appreciative of their support and gratitude,” Johnson said.
Anyone willing to donate to the silent auction can contact Randi Johnson at 903-249-1393.
“We welcome all to come out and visit with us and take a look at our equipment as our trucks and station will be open for our guests during the event,” she said.
