Just a week and a half ago, Red River County had only one positive coronavirus case. However, today Judge L.D. Williamson said the cases have spiked to 29 after the virus got into a local nursing home.
“It seems to just be getting started in our area,” said Williamson. “We were late getting positive tests but now it seems like we get more and more every day.”
Williamson said both staff and residents at the nursing home have been tested and those with positive tests have been notified and quarantined.
Last week, the State of Texas set up a mobile COVID-19 test facility and 40 people were tested. Williamson said eight of those tested positive for the virus.
“I encourage residents to continue to follow social distancing guidelines, wear a mask in public, and stay home as much as they possibly can.”
