Dorothy Faye Berry, 94, of Bagwell passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into their care.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18th at Leesville Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Sanders and Rev. Jimmy Westbrook officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Leesville Cemetery.
Mrs. Berry, the daughter of Hubert Hammett and Ruby Dodson Hammett, was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Lamasco, TX.
She attended school in the community of Lamasco in Fannin County, TX. On Dec. 23, 1948, she married Vernon Montgomery Berry building 67 years of family and memories before his death on June 23, 2016. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Arkadelphia, AR where Dorothy was a telephone operator for a short time.
She was a loving Christian wife and mother and was always a helpmate to her husband through their many years together. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cooking, tending her yard and flower beds, and was a wonderful seamstress. She took care of anyone who visited in her home and always wanted to feed them. She read her Bible every day and for many years taught Sunday School. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Wright City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandson, Brandon Michael Brackman, brothers, Doyal Hammett and Harry Hammett, a sister-in-law, Nan Hammett, and a brother-in-law, Tom Baker. Survivors include three children, Barbara Scheets, DeeDee Schiller and husband Michael Smith, and Vernon Glen Berry and wife Tammy, grandchildren, Krystal Miller and husband Scott, Hannah Weaver and husband Jesse and their soon to be born daughter Ivy Pearl, Jenna Berry, and Cameron Schiller and wife Dani, great grandchildren, Keagan Andrew Miller, Eli Montgomery Miller, J. R. Schiller, and Conrad Schiller, siblings, Wanda Baker, Betty Crawford and husband Ragon, James Hammett and wife Ellen, and Edward Hammett and wife Karen, and a sister-in-law, Linda Hammett along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Gaylon Hammett, Jimmy Hammett, Tim Brown, Michael Dewoody, Tony Whittle, and Blake Pittman.
