An early morning call for a driver traveling the wrong way in Delta County ended in a two-vehicle wreck with a Delta County patrol vehicle.
Shortly after 2 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Highway 24 in reference to a wrong way driver coming southbound in the northbound lane from Lamar County.
The vehicle traveled south on Highway 24 into the Klondike area before a Delta County Deputy encountered the driver in the area of Highway 24 and FM 1528 and attempted to get the driver to stop.
The vehicle struck the patrol vehicle and continued traveling about 30 feet before coming to a stop.
The driver of the vehicle was subsequently taken by ambulance to a Sulphur Springs hospital with an unrelated medical issue.
The deputy was checked out at a Commerce Hospital as a precautionary measure and has since been released.
A passenger of the wrong way driver vehicle was not hurt.
