Winifred Joe Barber, 84, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Paris Regional Health.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31st at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Barber, the son Georgie Harrison Barber and Flora McFatridge Barber, was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Lamar County, TX.
He graduated from Central High School in Sumner and Grayson County College. Following graduation he entered the United States Navy, serving until he was honorably discharged. His career with the Royse City ISD spanned many years before his retirement. While living in Royse City he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Royse City where he served as a deacon. Here in Paris, he was a member of Paris Church of God where he served as a greeter.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Mike Barber and Daron Lee Miller, and siblings, Wayne Barber, William Barber, Vicky Barber, Marie McCarter, and Catherine Barber.
Survivors include his wife, Jolene Porter Barber, children, Jodie Wollitz-Barber (Dafney) and Terry Hudson (William), grandchildren, Michaela Bishop (Austin), Tabitha Cannon, Chad Cannon, and Danni Edmonson (Levi), great grandchildren, Daron Justice, Mayle Upton, Tray Upton, Mathew, Myles, and Magnolia and a sister, Shirley Madden (Martin) along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
