Wanda Lois Whitley, 80, of Blossom, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Brentwood Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24th at Detroit Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Blanton officiating.
Mrs. Whitley, the daughter of Houston & Lorene Long, was born March 7, 1945, in Faught, TX.
Wanda was a seamstress and worked at Red Cap and Hollywood Vasarrette. She also worked at K-Mart. Later, she and her husband, Jerry, owned and operated Whitley Cemetery Services. Following Jerry’s passing, Wanda continued to maintain several local cemeteries until her retirement. During her retirement years she was an avid gardener. She attended Bagwell Baptist Church. Wanda was a devoted grandmother, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Houston and Lorene Long, her husband, Jerry, a son, Dale Long, and her siblings, Wayne Long, Lilly Long, Donald Long, Shirley McCoy, Peggy Rogers, James Long, and Mark Long.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Whitley and wife Cindy and Vaughn Whitley and wife Terri, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a sister-in-law, Marla Long along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Young Lives of Lamar County.
