Paris police department released the identity of the two victims involved in Friday’s homicide, which left one deceased.
The deceased victim was identified as Alicia Marie Turner. Jakellia Turner, the daughter of Alicia, was assaulted with a deadly weapon, according to police.
“This was another senseless and unnecessary tragedy, not only for the families involved but for the Paris community,” said Police Chief Richard Salter. “On behalf of the Paris Police Department, we offer our sincere condolences to the victim’s family. In today’s climate with so much hostility in the air, we must try to remember what we all have in common as human beings, appreciate and respect those things, and not allow our differences or the evil of hate steal our futures.”
At about 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, police responded to a shots fired call in the 300 block of E Grove St., where a 39-year-old female was found laying in the yard. Officers located a second female with gunshot wounds to her legs.
According to police, 34-year-old Lilandria Shiaire Bell, of Paris, admitted to officers she was the person who shot the two females. Bell was arrested and charged her with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
