Authorities have identified the suspect involved in Cooper’s Sunday morning shooting, which left one man dead at the scene and another flown to a Dallas hospital in stable condition.
Arrested on the scene, Robert Clevon Jeffery, 47 of Cooper, has been booked into the Delta County Jail and charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
At about 9:53 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, Delta County deputies responded to a shooting call at Cooper Mart in the 800 block of W. Dallas Street.
According to the department, one man was shot and died on the scene, while another was flown to Dallas with a gunshot wound.
Officials identified the deceased as 35-year-old Damien Damon Wiley of Cooper, and the wounded individual as 21-year-old male Saquan Harrion-Reynolds. Harrion-Reynolds is in stable condition.
Texas Rangers arrived on the scene and assisted Delta County Sheriff’s Office – alongside Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department, Texas A&M – Commerce Police, Texas Game Warden, Texas Parks and Wildlife Officer and Delta County Emergency Management – with the scene and investigation.
Jeffery is being held on a one-million-dollar bond for a Murder Warrant and a $500,000 dollar bond for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Warrant.
