The United Way of Lamar County (UWLC) is participating in this year’s East Texas Giving Day on Tuesday, April 25th.
This annual online giving event for nonprofits is generally just about receiving donations, but this UWLC is giving back to the community too.
UWLC Executive Director Jenny Wilson explains, “On East Texas Giving Day we will be set up in the parking lot at the corner of Lamar Avenue and Collegiate Drive to give away diapers. We will also have the North Texas Food Bank’s mobile SNAP truck there to help people apply for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, CHIP and Health Texas Women. And we are still trying to organize a food give away as well.” East Texas Broadcasting will be live broadcasting at the event.
Wilson adds, “We want our community to see us in action. It’s what we do on a daily basis, but the public doesn’t always get to see what goes on behind the scenes.”

If UWLC raises $1000 both Atmos Energy and Delco Trailers have pledged a $1000 match. Gifts can be pre scheduled on the website.
