A two-year old girl died after accidentally shooting herself after finding a family members gun inside an apartment in the 300 block of Stone Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police responded to the apartment and discovered a two-year old female, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head, and a 16-year old male in the residence.
Paris EMS transported the two-year old to Paris Regional Health, where she was pronounced deceased.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the toddler accidentally shot herself with a family member’s handgun,” said police.
At this time, there have been no arrests. However, pending a thorough investigation, criminal charges may be filed at a later time.
