A three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 271 early this morning has left one person dead and two others in the hospital.
“A vehicle pulled out of the Beaver Creek subdivision turning south on us 271,” said DPS Mark Tackett.
“A southbound vehicle struck the rear of the vehicle that turned out which resulted in it rolling onto its roof and was sitting in the middle Hwy.271.”
“A third southbound vehicle hit the vehicle on its roof on the driver side door.”
All three drivers went to the hospital.
A male, 26-year-old Dontra Bailey from Hugo, Oklahoma, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

BREAKING NEWS: The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS are currently working a major accident in the 4200 Block North Hwy 271 near Beaver Creek Road.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident. Two with reported critical injuries.
DPS has shut down the highway at this time for traffic control and re-directly southbound traffic to the northbound lanes.
We’re asking all motorists to use an alternate route.
