Thanksgiving food that may be harmful to your dog || Better to be safe than sorry

As many families sit down for their Thanksgiving feast tomorrow, there are some members of the family that will only be able to sit back and watch – the family dogs.

All the food will be tempting to your four-legged friend, but it turns out that a lot of what you’re eating isn’t actually good for them.

So to avoid an emergency visit to the vet this Thanksgiving, you may want to keep reading.

Turkey: Turkey is fine for dogs as long as it is plain with any skin. The skin itself can be very greasy, and the fat content can trigger pancreatitis. Also be sure to throw away the turkey carcass, and where the dog can get to it, as they could choke on the bones.

Sweets: This has been a long-standing rule when it comes to dogs: no sweets, especially chocolate, which can be poisonous. Bakers and dark chocolate are the worst and more toxic than milk chocolate. White chocolate isn’t really that bad.

Grapes/Raisins/Nuts: Steer clear of slipping grapes and raisins to your pooch as they can cause kidney damage. Nuts, which are high in fat, can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and pancreatitis.

Salty Snacks: Anything high in salt content can cause excessive thirst and urination, and if your dog eats too much they could suffer from sodium ion poisoning.
