Paris’ own BonFire restaurant has been named one of Texas’ 10 Best New Restaurants by Texas Monthly.
Texas Monthly dining critic, Paula Forbes said the ten selection stood out because they dared to be opinionated, bizarre, dazzling, and even fun.
“I’ve never seen more pairs of fancy cowboy boots in one place than I saw at BonFire, just off Paris’ historic square,” said Forbes. “This French-meets-Texan restaurant is where locals go to wine, dine, see, be seen, and eat lacy, crisp frites and wood-fired steaks. The menu, by chef Patten Sommers, changes to reflect what’s in season in this fertile corner of the state.”
BonFire, described as Paris’ Texas table with a French accent, features all the comforts of southern hospitality with an elevated French culinary flair.
“We want to create a warm and inviting space where the people of Paris could enjoy exceptional food and service, and it’s an honor to be recognized for that,” said Cody Head, Director of Operations.
In her review, Forbes highlighted not only the food, including the whole-grilled Gulf red snapper dressed with pecan meunière, but dining room features like the jewel-toned stained glass, luxurious leather booths, and a glowing pressed-metal ceiling.
“The menu. by chef Patten Sommers, changes to reflect what’s in season in his fertile corner of the state,” said Forbes. “If BonFire, which is just blocks away from the renowned Paris Bakery, can succeed in Paris, it could inspire other high-caliber restaurants to open here too. In the meantime, it’s the best spot for a night out in this region.”
Chef Sommers said he was honored to be featured in this year’s Best New Restaurants list.
“I’m very proud of the effort and dedication that everyone has put in, and I’m looking forward to seeing us continue to get better and better.”
BonFire is located in downtown Paris at 136 Clarksville Street.
