Students in Taqoya Monds Environmental Science class at North Lamar High School had their classroom turned into an academically-focused escape room.

Working in teams and using critical thinking to solve puzzles related to classroom content, the students were given fifty-five minutes to unlock a series of digital codes in order to save the ecosystem.

Students who participate in inquiry-based learning find that even under pressure the learning is fun, enhances their communication skills, and challenges their perseverance.

Digital learning games such as this can be adaptable to any subject area.

One team who worked together to break the code show they succeeded by holding up their breakout sign.
