A Co-Ed softball tournament, Swingin’ For Nationals, is set for Sept. 25 in hopes of raising money to send local FFA students to the national convention.
Playing under the halo rule, games will be about 55 minutes each and three will require at least three women on the field at all times with a minimum of nine players.
The run rule is 15 runs after four innings or 10 runs after five innings. The softball tournament is open to 10 teams, and it is $200 per team (3 home runs) or $250 per team (unlimited home runs). The losing team pays the umpire $20.
For more information or to sign up, contact North Lamar ISD FFA President Sloane Hill at 903-715-7045.
The group is also looking for sponsorships for the back of the winner and runner-up shirts.
The tournament will be at the Detroit Softball Field on Sept. 25.
