Last week, Students of the Stone Middle School Honor and Symphonic Band Programs traveled to Pine Tree High School to audition for the Region 4 Texas Music Educators Association Middle School/Junior High All Region Band.
Students were required to prepare two advanced solo pieces and scales for the auditions. They competed against 7th and 8th graders across Region 4 for TMEA. Those who made the band were split into two bands, Symphonic and Concert Band.
42 of the 56 students who audition made the All-Region Band.
On Dec. 10, the students who made the All Region Band will travel to Paris Junior High and have a day-long clinic where they will learn new music as a group and perform that evening for the public. The All Region Symphonic Band will be directed by Don Colquitt, Director of Bands at Fouke, AR and the Concert Band will be conducted by Brittany Knight, Head Band Director of Southard Middle School in Princeton, TX.
