On November 8, 2025, Stephen “Red” Holmes officially filed to run for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Lamar County, Texas, answering what he believes is a calling to continue serving his community with integrity, fairness, respect, and faith.
A longtime supporter of Lamar County families and a dedicated public servant who upholds traditional values, Holmes believes the office of Justice of the Peace should be a steady, common-sense presence in public service—guided by respect for every individual and a commitment to doing what is right.
“My faith, my family, and my love for this community—along with many prayers—led me to the decision to seek the position of Justice of the Peace,” Holmes said. “The role of Justice of the Peace is about serving people with fairness, compassion, accountability, and availability, and I would be honored to earn your support and your vote.”
Judge Jimmy Steed is the current Justice of the Peace and has announced his retirement at the end of his final term in office.
“Judge Steed has done an excellent job during his tenure and was always available to all citizens, serving with integrity, fairness, and respect. This office is in great shape because of Judge Steed. Best wishes to him on his retirement.”
Holmes is committed to upholding conservative values, maintaining fairness in the position, and ensuring justice remains accessible to all citizens. He brings a servant’s heart shaped by 46 years of public service and believes leadership begins with listening to those you serve.
Citizens are encouraged to follow Holmes’ campaign Facebook page to learn more about his background, his family, and his vision for serving Precinct 4.
“Thank you for your prayers, your support, and your vote,” Holmes added.
