The Slade Baker Memorial Cook-Off will be hosted downtown at South Main Iron this weekend, Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Slade Baker, former Paris Firefighter, was killed in an automobile accident in 2019 and the event honors his life and raises funds for the Slade Baker Memorial Fund, a non-profit providing scholarships for local candidates entering the fire academy.
“His legacy of laughter, loyalty and heart lives on through the Slade Baker Memorial Fund — he’s still making a difference,” said event organizers online.
A Cornhole Tournament will be held with a 50/50 payout for first place and a $200 payout for second. Entry is $50 per person.
The Crawfish Cook-Off will feature teams competing for the Championship Title Trophy and a cash prize. Other awards include People’s Choice, Best Team Name and Most Creative Side Dish.
Teams will be provided with the crawfish, water and a standard 10×12 space. All seasonings and sides are provided by the team.
Those attending will be able to purchase tickets to the Crawfish Courtyard allowing access to all-you-can -eat crawfish.
If you aren’t interested in crawfish, you can still enjoy the live music and the kids corner at no cost.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction and several raffle items available inside South Main Iron.
Artists featured at the event are Red Stone Revival and Dustin Perkins.
