The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of thefts after multiple parcel post office boxes were pried open at the Powderly Post Office.
Post office personnel reported that sometime between Dec. 31, 2025, and Jan. 5, 2026, ten large parcel post office boxes, used to house large packages, had been pried open.
It was also reported that several customers had said packages were shown as delivered but were missing.
The Deputy was further informed that the same thing had occurred at the Post Offices in Arthur City and Brookston.
Four boxes were pried open at each of these locations and, in total, eighteen parcel PO boxes had been pried open.
These thefts were reported to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
