Ruth was born May 21, 1923 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Joseph & Mini Yoho. She married her high school sweetheart, James V. Sciarro on June 11, 1943 at the age of 20. Together they had two daughters Karen Ann Julian and Janice Arlene Creed in the 1940’s. The family was forced to move to Texas in 1953 due to Janice’s asthma and Jim was able to secure a transfer to B&W which was just opening the Paris plant at that time. Later in life, they had a son, James Alan Sciarro in 1964. Following a sudden illness at home the older Jim passed away from asthma and heart failure in 1967. Ruth raised her infant son Jim, then 2, on her own from 1967 until she remarried Lyston T. Lusby in 1973. Together Ruth & Lyston (LT) lived a happy life together until his death in December 2020.

Ruth was an avid bowler during most of her life earning lifetime membership in the WIBC. She was friends with everyone at the Paris Lanes for a big part of her life as she bowled in up to three leagues per week for over 50 years up to the age of 92. She has several bowling trophies and awards for 200+ games and traveled annually with her bowling friends to many state and national tournaments. We are sure she is bowling today in her heavenly home with several of her friends and family who have welcomed her with open arms.

Ruth was a big fan of the Texas Rangers, Kansas City Chiefs and The Dallas Cowboys. If a game was on TV you can bet she was watching it. She gained her love of sports from growing up in a household with 3 younger brothers and a dad who was active in Beaver County Baseball leagues. If her dad was playing in a game she was always in the stands and was his number #1 fan. Ruth also never missed a tennis tournament her son, Jim competed in and drove him and his friends to many tournaments across the state for many years.
In her later years Ruth became a lover of slot machines and could sit and play for hours on hours during her yearly trips to Las Vegas with her son, Jim. They started their annual trips on her 70th birthday and always looked forward to their next trip together which continued up to her 101st birthday celebration.
The life she lived and the love she left behind will remain with her family and friends for years to come. She was loved and she will be missed.
Jim & Karen would like to thank all of the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Waterford Hospice especially Nurse Lexi and Little George & our caregiver Lenora. They along with several others at Waterford, have been extended family to Ruth over the past few years and their regular weekly visits would always find a way to make her smile.
Ruth loved children and has asked that anyone interested in making a donation to the Shriner’s Children’s Texas Hospital in her memory would make her happy. If you would like to make a donation in Ruth’s memory please visit donate.shrinerschildrens.org and note her name in the Memory of space and the family will be notified.
