New ownership will take over the Rocket Raceway Park. The Petty, Texas, dirt oval formally known as 82 Speedway will see a new branding for the 2022 season.
The management team of Kevin Sustaire and Kevin Rogers will take the reins at the Rocket Raceway Park. After spending the last three seasons at the RPM Speedway of Texas, the duo intends to capitalize on their prior experiences.
“We are excited about the opportunity to continue promoting weekly racing in Texas. We feel like we have gained a lot of experience over the past few years and are excited for the new venture,” said Sustaire.
“The opportunity to challenge ourselves and provide quality, weekly racing events was another enticing characteristic of the Rocket Raceway Park. I am excited to get to work,” Rogers said.
For the 2022 season, the Rocket Raceway Park will see five competitive divisions of weekly racing action. Slated for the upcoming campaign will be the USRA Limited Modified, USRA Stock Cars, Eco Mod, USRA Factory Stock, and Trooper Cruisers. The USRA Modified division will join the card on a bi-weekly basis. The USRA Modifieds will compete for the Rocket Challenge in 2022 and alternate weekends with the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville.
There will be two new divisions added to the 2022 schedule as well. The USRA Stock Cars and the newly formed Trooper Cruiser divisions will compete.
“The USRA Stock Car division is one of the most competitive divisions in all of motorsports. We are excited to bring them in for the 2022 season,” said Sustaire.
The Trooper Cruisers will be competing weekly at the Rocket Raceway Park.
“The guys at Big O Speedway and XR have the same division. This seems like a positive direction for an affordable class of race car for folks to get into. I am excited to see how this class grows throughout the season,” Rogers said.
In addition to the changes to the Rocket Raceway Park, the KR Cup will once again join the Kevin and Kevin Show at the Petty, Texas Speed plant.
“I am excited to bring the KR Cup to Lamar County. Weekly racing will be contested for the opportunity to win the KR Cup Championship,” said Kevin Rogers.
Race on Texas will be joining the Raceway as well.
“The entire crew over at Race on Texas is top notch. They have been with us since 2015 and we are excited to continue our relationship with them,” said Rogers.
In 2022, the Raceway will play host to several Special Events. The USMTS Series will invade the Raceway on March 3-5. The American Sprint Car Series National Tour will invade the Raceway on July 8. The American Racer Modified Series will also join the card on Sept. 4 and return for the ARMS Nationals on Nov. 3-5.
“We are working on a few Sprint Car and Late Model shows as well for this season. Details are being finalized and should be posted in the next few days,” Kevin Sustaire said.
The NOW600 National Series will conclude the 2022 season at the Raceway on Nov. 10-12.
“It is going to be a challenging and exciting season for us, the drivers, crews, partners, and fans for the Rocket Raceway Park. Sustaire and I have been burning the candle at both ends this short off-season finalizing the details and are ready to get started,” said Kevin Rogers.
A new website is being finalized and should be available in the coming weeks. Also, make sure to follow the Raceway on social media at Rocket Raceway Park for updated information.
