Rev. Lynn Hildreth, 77, of Kilgore, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at his home.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.
Lynn, the son of Travis Hildreth & Cora Oletha Morrison Hildreth, was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Chicota, TX.
The family moved to Dallas, and he attended Dallas schools followed by two years at El Centro College in Dallas. He was the assistant manager of the first Target in Dallas.
While in Dallas he entered the ministry. He and his wife, Betty, pioneered a church in Seagoville followed by Paris and Chandler. It was while in Paris, during the early 70’s, that ministry became his full time calling. Later, Lynn served as a pastor in Ponca City, OK and Longview, TX, retiring in 2008. At his last church, he served on the board of the Southeast Asia Region for the Churches of God.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Adams Hildreth, whom he married in 1964, one son, Bret Dwayne Hildreth & wife Julianna, grandchildren, Dalton Hildreth & wife Jasmin and Abigail Hildreth, siblings, Sandra Sandlin & husband Benny, Clint Hildreth & wife Jeanie, Joyce Fitzgerald & husband Jeff, and Darlene McDowell & husband Jerry and a number of nieces & nephews along with a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to support a mission project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
