Reno residents now have the opportunity to show their patriotism with Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop’s Flag Program.
“This is an opportunity for residents to honor our country and support our Armed Forces with a beautiful American flag in their yard for six flag holidays a year,” said Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop president Amanda Willows.
For those who sign up, a team will install a plastic sleeve flush in the ground near the curb in the front yard or at your place of business to accommodate a pole mounted 3′ x 5′ flag. (It will be capped and will not interfere with mowing).
On six flag holidays each year, Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop volunteers will install the pole with the flag and then pick it up after the holiday.
Flag holidays are Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day.
For an additional fee, residents can also get a blue line flag for Nation Police Week and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
“All proceeds for this program will help us provide safety equipment, training needs, and advocacy for our local police and first responders,” said Willows. “We thank everyone for their support.”
For an American Flag its $35 annually (one flag) OR four or more flags in the same location are $30 each per year.
For a Blue Line Flag its $20 annually for one flag.
