An 18-wheeler diesel truck and trailer that was traveling through Bogata around 9 p.m. Monday evening failed to navigate an S-turn resulting in a home demolished.

According to Bogata Chief of Police David Short, the driver of the truck left the road and plowed into the Windstream Office before taking out a brand new residential home that had three occupants in it.

“An adult man and two children were in the home when the truck crashed through it. They sustained minor injuries and were taken to Titus County Medical Center for minor medical attention,” Short said.

The driver and passenger of the truck were both injured once the cab finally came to a rest on the other side of the home.

“The driver was care-flighted to Trinity Hospital in Tyler with life-threatening injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. The passenger was taken to Paris Regional Medical Center,” he added.

Although Short said they were still investigating the cause of the accident, he believes that speed and inattention could be factors in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
