After Red River County was struck by an EF-3 tornado – shortly after and separately from Lamar County’s – with winds up to 150 mph late Friday afternoon, Red River County Judge declared a local state of disaster for the county on Nov. 4, 2022.
According to the declaration, the Red River County Judge “determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitize property.”
The tornado that struck Red River County traveled an estimated 35 miles, and into McCurtain County, Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service.
According to Red River County officials, there were at least 10 homes damaged or destroyed from Fulbright to the Red River. Multiple injuries were reported in Red River County, where one man had to be transported to Plano with serious injuries sustained from the storm at a deer camp just north of Clarksville off of County Road 3151.
