The Third Annual Raven Dowd Scholarship Foundation (RDSF) Banquet was held on Saturday, January 3, at Love Civic Center, and organizers are proud to announce the event successfully exceeded its fundraising goal. All proceeds from the banquet will be used to award scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools, continuing the foundation’s mission of supporting students as they pursue higher education.
Since its founding, the Raven Dowd Scholarship Foundation has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships to graduates from Paris High School, North Lamar, Prairiland, Chisum, and Trinity Christian Academy. The strong turnout and generosity shown at this year’s banquet reaffirmed the community’s commitment to investing in the future of its students.
The Raven Dowd Scholarship Foundation was established to honor the life and legacy of Raven Dowd, who tragically lost her life her senior year in 2016. Raven was known for her kindness, determination, and love for her community. The scholarship was created to ensure that her legacy lives on by providing opportunities, hope, and support for young people striving to achieve their educational goals.
“We are so grateful for the continuous support,” said Stephanie Dowd, mother of Raven Dowd and RDSF executive director. “We are trying to help change the lives of young people, and we could not do this work without the generosity of this community.”
Kimberly Smith, RDSF president, emphasized the teamwork behind the event’s success. “This banquet was made possible by a dedicated board, volunteers, and supporters who believe deeply in our mission. Their hard work and commitment ensure that Raven’s legacy continues to make a meaningful impact.”
Looking ahead, RDSF Vice President Nikki Burchinal shared optimism for the foundation’s future. “The successful outcome of this year’s Raven Dowd Foundation Banquet has inspired us to pursue additional revenue opportunities for an even better banquet next year. We’re looking forward to expanding our reach and supporting more students.”
The foundation strongly encourages eligible graduating seniors to apply for the Raven Dowd Scholarship.
