Prairiland Superintendent, Jeff Ballard is reassuring parents today that their kids are safe in school despite recent reports of a threat made.

“There is no immediate or ongoing threat at Prairiland High School,” said Ballard.

18-year-old Alexander Barnett Bene, a senior at Prairiland High School, was arrested on terroristic threat charges early Monday morning, however, Ballard said all the necessary precautions and security protocols were in place to protect the kids.

“We don’t joke around about any comments made online or in school and encourage kids if they see something to say something,” added Ballard.

According to sources, there were several posts made online by Bene and an indirect comment made that alarmed students who went and told teachers.

“We take everything very seriously and I have to commend the kids for coming forward and making us aware of what was posted and said by this student,” said Ballard.

“Parents and students don’t need to feel threatened or scared to go to school,” added Ballard.

Ballard said that Bene will not be back in school.

The investigation is still ongoing.
