POLICE: Suspect shot and injured during home invasion on Clarksville St, victim beaten and stabbed

Around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, multiple law enforcement agencies in Lamar County respond quickly to a home invasion in the 2100 block of Clarksville St. 

It was believed that a male suspect had broken into an elderly female’s residence and assaulted her during the invasion. 

“Officers arrived to find an elderly female who had been beaten and stabbed along with the suspect at the residence,” said Chief of Polce Bob Hundley.

“The suspect jumped through a window and was captured outside the residence by Paris police officers.” 

Quick response from officers enabled them to apprehend the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene. 

At one point the male suspect was said to have been shot in the leg by an unknown shooter, Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley said in an official statement on scene. 

Both the victim and the gunman were transported to PRMC for further medical attention.

The scene was taped off for a period of time while Paris police opened an investigation into the incident.

Chief Hundley said no further information would be available until the investigation results in more details of the morning’s event. 

Paris Police was assisted on scene by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Paris EMS, and Paris Fire Department.
