Paris police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of Stone Ave at 1:06 a.m. on Mar. 25. Officers located a male and female still arguing, officers discovered that the female had been assaulted by 22-year old Zackery Shane Posey. They observed obvious injuries to the victim and it was reported that Posey had choked the female. He was arrested and charged with assault of a family member by impeding breathing. Posey was then placed in jail awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
Later at 3:24 a.m. on Mar. 25, officers responded to a burglary of a residence call in the 1800 block of W Kaufman St. The victim reported that he was awoken by someone ringing the doorbell. As the victim was approaching the front door, he observed the doorknob being turned as if someone was attempting to come inside the house. The unknown person then broke the window of the door and reached inside and unlocked the door. When the victim yelled at the suspect, the suspect ran away. The incident is under investigation.
