At 1:27 p.m. on April 29, Paris police arrested 27-year old Mariah Shelby Jones, in the 2500 block of W Austin St on a felony Lamar County warrant charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Jones was found to be in possession of some prescription pills that she did not have a prescription for and was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris police later responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1700 block of E Tudor St at 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday. When the officers arrived on scene, they were advised that the driver of the vehicle left the scene and was walking westbound on Tudor St. Officers stopped and detained Clinterius Malik Franklin, 22, of Paris. During the investigation, Franklin was found to be in possession of numerous pills and a small amount of marijuana. He also was in possession of a stolen handgun. Franklin was arrested and charged with manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and possession of marijuana. He was also found to have several outstanding traffic warrants. Franklin was placed in the city jail awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
