Police are warning locals to be aware of deer on the roadways after responding to a sixth accident involving a vehicle striking a deer on Tuesday night.
Around 9:39 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 4400 block of FM 195 after a Ford Escape, traveling south, struck a deer.
The driver was not injured. The officer located the deer and dispatched it to prevent further suffering. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
“This is the sixth accident, that was reported to the department this year, that resulted in a report being made, involving striking a deer. Deer are very present. Majority of the reported accidents occurred on the south side of Paris, on South Collegiate or the SE Loop, near Paris High School or on the SW Loop, between Church Street and SW 19th Street,” said police.
Of the six accidents, only one driver reported injury, two vehicles required a wrecker, and the Game Warden or the Texas Department of Public Safety were notified, regarding status of the deer.
