Paris Police responded to a theft in the 3800 block of Lamar Ave at 10:33 A.M. on September 20, 2022. Officers observed a male and female loading items into their vehicle from a grocery cart and employees advised that the items had not been paid for. The two were detained and found to have stolen over $600 worth of items. Both were arrested and charged with theft. During the investigation, Misty Michelle Hayes, 43, of Paris, was found to have at least two prior convictions for theft. This charge was enhanced to a felony. Both were later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a disturbance in the 2100 block of E Cherry St at 10:37 A.M. on September 20, 2022. During the investigation, 36 year old Ollie Nmn Morgan, of the residence, was found to have two felony warrants out of Arlington, Texas Police Department charging him with theft of property of less than $2,500 with 2 or more previous convictions and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Morgan was arrested and later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a burglary of a business in the 1500 block of Church St at 12:58 P.M. on September 20, 2022. The reporting person reported that someone had cut a chain off of the side fence to gain access to the property. The person(s) then used a tractor loader to remove numerous 8 inch steel I-Beams. The reporting person estimated the value of the I Beams at $4,000. The investigation continues.
Paris Police arrested April Michelle Jenkins, 37, at her residence on a parole violation warrant. She is currently on parole for a credit or debit card abuse of an elderly victim. Jenkins was booked and transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 200 block of NE 12th St at 4:45 P.M. on September 20, 2022 for a defective tail light. The vehicle refused to stop for the emergency lights and siren and attempted to elude the officers. In the 1200 block of E Grove St, a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A second officer chased the person and apprehended him near the intersection of NE 13th St and Fairfax. The driver stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of Martin Luther King, Jr Dr and was apprehended. Both subjects were found to be juveniles. The passenger was found to be in possession of a backpack that contained three semi- automatic pistols. One of the pistols was found to have been stolen earlier this year in Paris. Both were booked and later released to guardians pending hearings.
