On Oct. 3, an officer made contact with Matthew John McMullen (36) in the 800 block of NE 11th. A warrant check revealed that McMullen had an outstanding Parole Violation warrant out of Colorado. McMullen was arrested and booked then transferred to Lamar County Jail for extradition without incident.
On Oct. 4, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar in regards to a disturbance at a restaurant drive-thru. Upon arrival they encountered Rodrich Lopaze Black (49) who was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Black was placed under arrest and transported to a medical facility for a blood draw. It was found that Black had two previous charges for DWI and so his charge was enhanced to Felony DWI Third or More. He was booked and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Oct. 4, Officers were notified of a white male looking into residential windows in the 2800 block of Cypress St. Officers located the suspect in the 2800 block of Kessler and identified him as Mychal Tyler Jones (34). Jones was speaking with a resident of the area and told officers he was asking for a ride to prevent being arrested for Public Intoxication. Officers noted that Jones appeared to be under the influence of some narcotic or alcohol. A consensual search revealed Jones to be in possession of prescription medications, which were prescribed to another, marijuana, and a 24 ounce can of an alcoholic beverage. Jones was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug X 2, and Possession of Marijuana. It was discovered that Jones had stolen the medications earlier in the evening but the victim refused to pursue charges. Jones was booked and placed in the city jail as he had become violent during transport.
On Oct.4, while investigating the theft of a phone which had occurred earlier in the day, officers located Justin Michael King (29) in the 700 block of NW 4th. The owner of the phone had used an application to locate the stolen phone. Officers observed King hiding beneath a blanket in a camper at the location. He was contacted and admitted the location of the phone as well as his theft of the phone. A criminal history revealed that King had three previous convictions for theft at which time the charges were enhanced to Theft of Property under $2500.00 with two or more previous convictions, a State Jail Felony. King was processed and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Oct. 4, an officer attempted to stop Collin Hugh Peters (35) in the 2600 block of N. Main for the offense of no tag light on a motorcycle. Peters did not stop and continued on around the loop to a location in the 1100 block of NE 20th where he left the roadway and road behind some shrubbery, causing the officer to lose sight of him. Officers converged on the area and Peters was found walking away from the motorcycle which he had left on it’s side near the garage. He was recognized as the same subject being earlier observed at a local bar in a state of intoxication. Peters was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.
On Oct. 5, an officer made contact with Landry Ryan Morrison (22) after observing him traveling 78 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone in the 3400 block of NE Loop 286. Morrison failed to stop and continued to the 3300 block of Lamar Avenue where he was contacted by the officer. Morrison refused to exit the vehicle and when the officer attempted to physically remove him, Morrison assaulted the officer and fled the scene the vehicle, dragging the officer for a short distance until the officer could safely disengage from the vehicle. Other officers as well as the original officer pursued Morrison as he fled on Loop 286, making multiple turns and doubling back several times. Morrison struck highway fixtures and continued to evade. He was eventually stopped in the area of 271 South and Cobb Ranch Road, where he was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of Marijuana as well as a handgun. Morrison was charged with Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest or Search With a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Unlawful Carrying a Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, and other misdemeanor offenses. He was booked and placed in jail. The officer had minor injuries.
On Oct. 10, Officers made contact with Ashlyn Nicole Tanner (26) in the 400 block of NE 12th St. Tanner was known to have outstanding warrants out of Lamar County for Motion to Adjudicate Guilt on a Possession of Controlled Substance Case. Tanner was identified and placed under arrest. A local check revealed that she also had numerous outstanding municipal warrants for misdemeanor offenses. She was booked without incident. Tanners Motion to Adjudicate arrest stemmed from a 2024 incident in which she was found in possession of THC products.
On Oct. 5, Officers investigated a Cruelty to Animals incident occurring in the 1900 block of W. Shiloh. A dog was shot, possibly with a pellet gun, and died of the wound. Animal Control took possession of the animal and the incident is under investigation by Paris Criminal Investigations Division.
On Oct. 10, an officer on patrol in the area of 7th NW and Graham St located a vehicle sitting for an abnormally long time at a stop sign. The officer made contact with the driver, Nathaniel Ray Dyck (20) and found him to be unconscious behind the wheel. Dyck was determined to be intoxicated. Dyck had a handgun in the seat next to him in plain view. The firearm was secured, and Dyck was awakened. Dyck advised he had been smoking marijuana, of which there was a large bag in the vehicle. Dyck was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. He was booked without incident.
On Oct. 6, Officers investigating a report of an individual digging through the dumpster of a business in the 3800 block of Lamar made contact with Thomas Ray Langford (46) who claimed to be homeless. A criminal check revealed Langford to be wanted on warrants out of multiple agencies including Bowie County, Hopkins County, Titus County, Denton County, and Morris County. Felony charges included Criminal Mischief, Theft of Precious Metals, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity for a total of 7 warrants. Langford was arrested, booked and transported to Lamar County Jail.
Officers made 64 traffic stops, 19 adult arrest, and answered 310 calls for service during this reporting period.
