10/23 Everett Henry Aker (65) was stopped for an equipment violation in the 1100 block of W. Sherman. He and a passenger in the vehicle were detained and an open alcoholic beverage was found in the vehicle. Aker began making furtive movements towards the back seat of the vehicle. He was removed from the vehicle and a search performed. Narcotics were found in a backpack in the back seat of the vehicle. Aker’s identification was located inside the backpack as well. Akers was charged with Possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams, a Felony. The passenger was released.
10/24 An officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 100 block of NW 7th Street for an equipment violation. The driver refused to stop, continuing on until pulling into a parking lot in the 400 block of Grand Avenue. As the driver, Billy Wayne Naylor (37), was pulling into the parking lot, the officer observed Naylor to dump a substance out of the vehicle window. The officer confronted Naylor and removed him from the vehicle, detaining him in the patrol unit. Crumbs of what tested positive for methamphetamine and a torn plastic baggie were found in the driver’s area of the vehicle as well as on the ground outside the vehicle where the suspect dumped the narcotics. Further search of the vehicle revealed a pipe used for smoking narcotics concealed in a cup of what appeared to be a soft drink. All evidence was collected and tested. Naylor was charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Tampering with Evidence.
10/23 The department received a report of a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle that occurred in the 2300 block of E. Cherry St. The victim had left his vehicle unlocked the previous evening and found the next morning that suspects had entered the vehicle and stolen a handgun from the console. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers made 16 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 99 calls for service for this reporting period.
