On Oct. 14, Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation in the 10 block of SE 20th. They made contact with the driver, Kayla Rebecca Adams (31), and a passenger. Both occupants of the vehicle appeared to be nervous. Adams was found to have an active warrant out of Hopkins County for Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was taken into custody on the warrant. As she was being arrested, Adams attempted to give her phone and case to the passenger. The phone and case were examined by officers who located narcotics in a pocket of the phone case. After finding the narcotics, a full search was performed on the vehicle and further narcotics and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Adams was charged with on view Possession of a Controlled Substance. The passenger was cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released. The vehicle was towed. Adams was processed without incident and taken to county jail.
On Oct. 14, Officers performed a security check in the 200 block of Lamar Avenue after observing an adult male at the “Splash Pad” pulling on doors in an attempt to open them. They identified Robert Allen Berry (38), who told them he was “Looking for a coloring book”. Berry was extremely nervous and appeared to be under the influence of some narcotic substance. A consensual search revealed Berry to have a baggie containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket. Berry was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Since the offense occurred within the public park and within 1000 feet of a daycare center the charge was enhanced.
On Oct. 14, Officers had knowledge that Jonathan Edward Smallwood (41) had outstanding warrants. Smallwood was located in the 2000 block of Kyle Drive and arrested on a Parole Violation warrant as well as municipal warrants. He was taken into custody without incident.
