On Nov. 7, Officers of the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force were notified by Lamar County Tax Assessor’s Office of a subject attempting a title transfer on a 2021 GMC Truck. The title of the vehicle was false. Tax office personnel seized the title and Task Force employees later contacted the subject attempting the transfer. Officers were advised that the victim (person in possession of the vehicle) had bought the truck on Facebook for $30,000.00 from a subject in Mesquite Texas. A complete inspection of the vehicle revealed that the VIN information had been tampered with and falsified. The vehicle was a stolen vehicle reported in Dallas Texas. Dallas Police were notified of the recovery and the vehicle was seized as stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.
On Nov. 7, an officer received a report of a Burglary of Building in the 600 block of Graham St. The victim advised that an unknown person has entered their storage unit by breaking the lock/latch and stolen a large amount of property including clothing, musical instruments, and other collectibles. Officers are currently continuing the investigation.
On Nov. 8, Officers received a report of a man with a gun call in the 600 block of Hearon St. Officers arrived to find a disturbance in progress. All subjects were separated and information was collected. One of the victims advised that she had yelled at a subject who lived in the area for driving too fast and almost striking a child with his vehicle. The subject had gone into his residence, procured a handgun, and had then pointed the firearm at the victim and others while yelling that he would shoot them. Officers attempted to investigate the incident but the suspect’s family were uncooperative and the suspect was able to evade the officers before contact was made. Evidence of a handgun’s presence was located an collected in the suspect’s home. The suspect’s identity is known and the case is under investigation.
On Nov. 8, Officers responded to a report of a vehicle entering the city from Hiway 82 West at a high rate of speed. Officers contacted the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver in the 2500 block of Bonham St. The driver refused to pull over and continued driving, leading officers on a pursuit that eventually was ended in the Powderly Texas area after Lamar County Deputies assisted by deploying “Spikes” flattening the suspect vehicle’s tire. The suspect, identified as Darron Derrell Robinson (54) of Cooper Texas was arrested for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle (Felony). Robinson was found to be intoxicated. A criminal history check revealed that Robinson had 2 or more previous convictions for DWI and was subsequently charged with DWI 3rd or More, also a felony. Robinson also had an outstanding felony warrant out of Hunt County Texas. He was processed and placed in Lamar County Jail.
On Nov. 8, Officers arrested Nadalie Nacole Woodruff (38) of Paris, on outstanding warrants including charges of Parole Violation, Theft of Property under 2500.00 with two or more convictions and several municipal traffic warrants. She was contacted in the 400 block of SE 9th St. Woodruff was arrested without incident.
On Nov. 9, Officers investigated an attempted burglary at 507 Clarksville St. The reporting party advised and officers observed that during the time the store was closed, some unknown person had evidently pried on the sliding doors in an attempt to gain entry to the store. The alarm was still set and had not activated so it is believed that no entry was made.
On Nov. 10, Officers responded to a continuing disturbance in the 1000 block of Durango St. A victim there advised that an ex girlfriend had come to his residence and broken out windows. When the victim went to the door, the suspect, Rhonda Nadyne Thacker (54) sprayed the victim with pepper spray. Officers had previously responded to several incidents of Thacker vandalizing the victim’s property, one on the same day as this incident. Thacker had left the scene prior to officers arrival but was later located and arrested for Assault, Family Violence. A protective order was sought on behalf of the victim.
Officers made 18 traffic stops, 15 adult arrest, and answered 169 calls for service during this reporting period.
